when it rains...
when it rains...
so for the past week or so ive been trying to fix a brake problem. quick recap...blew a hole in the rear line on the highway, limped it to a friends shop. replaced lines, go to bleed brakes, and keep getting air. next day bleed MC, think we got it, bleed brakes, annnnnd more air.
so i get a new MC, and today put it in. less of a problem to replace the damn MC than anything else. anyways...
take old MC out, take off res, clean out with some carb cleaner, put it on new MC, bench bleed the new MC, thing bleeds real quick. install new MC, connect everything back up. jack car up, take off rear wheels, replace bleeder screws, brakes bleed real quick. wheels back on, jack front up, wheels off....
go to turn passenger bleeder screw....snnnap...FUUUUCK
thing broke off with hardly any effort. o well now i gotta get the screw out. try vice grips with a torch, nothing. grind a slit in it for a screw driver...and we snap off another part of the screw. torch it again for a good amount of time, and start pounding a screwdriver in hoping we might be able to twist it out. well my buddy's pounding on the screwdriver (im standing back havin a smoke) and i hear a loud POP from the wheel well followed by a loud ****.
the brake hose decided it was a good time to burst.
so now ive got to replace that, along with a new caliper, after everything else ive replaced in the last week. ugh

That sucks.
BTW:
Use teflon tape on the bleeder screws, they have a nasty habit of breathing air back in when you're trying to bleed air out. I spent hours bleeding my brakes getting spongy brakes everytime. I removed all the bleeders/screws and added teflon tape. 5 minutes of bleeding and my brakes are 110%
BTW: on the upside of things, now would be a good time to go for those SS lines
