wheel offset

well i am looking at some 17 inch rims for my 1987 t2 but i think that i might run into a problem. the rims have a 45mm offset. will these rims even fit and will it make the car look different? thanks

What is the wheel width?
The narrowest wheel width I know of is 17" x 7", so even with a +45 offset, it's going to be close - it depends on the tire width.

If it's anything wider than 7" wide, it will not fit with a +45mm offset.

its a 17x7 inch rim. is it gonna look goofy with the crazy offset? will it be sucked in or sticking out?

"Deep" offsets like that push the wheel into the well.

you lose alot of lug threads with a 12mm spacer...that doesn't sound all that safe.
