what causes wheel hop
when evver i burn out (which isnt often) after the first few seconds i get some serious hopping and shakeing until i get traction?
i know its not the fastest way to accelerate, but when i want to have a little smoke show i dont want to have to cap my teeth

wheel hop usually happens when your not spinning the tires fast enough, or there getting to much grip. It happens when the tire doesnt have enough energy to move your car forward, and not enough energy to spin freely so it goes only where it can go, and thats up. If you just pop your clutch at 6000 or so, so much energy will be applyed to the tire that it overloads it's available traction and just spins them freely. Youll notice that they will start hopping as soon as you let off the gas, or your car starts gaining speed. Independent rear suspensions generally have more hop them solid rears too.

I dunno. Suspension must have something to do with it. My chevette has NO power at all and new 185 tires, and it'll roast 'em with no hop at all... well one anyways, no LSD
