wheel help.

so i went to change the wheels on my 86 N/A when i noticed that one of them had only three lugs on and the other two where broken. is there a way to replace the screws that the lugs go on? if so i have a 88 sitting in the yard as a parts car, would i be able to pull them from there and move them over? also what do i need to do to get them off?

Consult chapter 9 of Factory Service Manual for instructions on removing wheel studs.

Front or rear hubs?

Big difference in procedure here. Front is a typical R&R job..... the rear however..... never a better time to replace rear wheel bearings.

If rear again. and you remove the whole knuckle from the parts car, It is a good time to put in the dtss eliminator bushing as well.

88 5 lug? your 86 5 lug?

You don't need to remove the rear hub if you're installing stock length studs. Just beat them out and pull a new one in.

everyone says it can be done, When I looked at mine (stripped thread on one) It does not look possible to get a new stud in from behind the hub...

I see tons of people who agree that it can't be done. I will look again, It was beer thirty in the afternoon last time I looked.

It has to be in the right place iirc. I personally replaced two broken rear studs on my GTUs without removing the rear hubs.

Ah, 5 lug, My base is 4, and it looked impossible when I tried forcing it in there.... Granted, I picked up a complete 5 lug swap and will be replacing all my old poop any how.

Sorry OP for clutter.
