Short version:

Will the BBS wheels from my 88 vert (15 X 6.5 according to FAQ) fit my 87 GXL (15 X 6 according to FAQ). I guess the real question is whether the offset is the same since they are both 5 lug with the same pattern.

Long version:

My 87 GXL (which is my wife's daily driver) got a flat a few days ago. I took the tire to my local garage for a check and we found that the inside edge of the rim, where the tire bead seats, was very badly corroded. The inside edge was lightly ground to remove the corrosion and the tire was reseated with a bead of black silicone.

That lasted one day. The next day my wife called from her work saying the tire was flat again. I went down and filled it with "Slime" and managed to get it to hold air again. Knowing this was a short term solution I bought a similar set of wheels from another member on the forum to replace this one and have spares.

My wife just called and her tire is flat again. Since it will be a few days before I receive the replacement rims and I have a brand new set of tires on my vert wheels just sitting in my workshop (waiting for me to finish the work on the vert), can I put a couple of them on the front of the GXL?

YES!

The dimensions / clearances are the same for all the FC's with 5-lug hubs, especially for all 1986 to 1988 models.

You can slap on 16" x 7" Turbo II wheels if you wanted to.
