wheel fitment
i am gonna be buying 5zigen rims pretty soon for my 87 t2 and i have a couple of questions. first off the rims are 17x7 and have a 35mm offset. i was wondering if putting 8 mm spacers in the back and 3mm spacers in the front would create rubbing or scraping issues? i am doing this because i want the wheels to stick out a bit more, but i want the rears out more than the front. thanks for the help

a 35mm offset is already sticking out 5mm more than a stock 16x7 wheel or 18mm more than a stock 15x6 inch wheel.
a 8mm spacer in combination with a 35mm offset wheel would look very funky...
You do know there is an link to the offset calculator in the FAQ for FC sticky thread at the top of this section?

frankly I don't consider spacers safe, you may wish to rethink the use of them. They are banned in every racing body that I know of, and if too large, will put considerable wear on the bearings and suspension of the car.
If you really want your car to look like a chicano'mobile then use a 25mm offset instead.

If you like those wheels enough, get them first.
They should mount without any fuss.
If you want to space them out, get spacers after and try them.
The rears cannot be spaced more than 1/4" or about 6mm.
Any more spacer thicker than that, and you run out of safe wheel stud threads.
The fronts can go a little more, but it is NOT recommended to run anything more than 1/4" or 6mm spacers on stock wheel lugs.
