Wheel bearing?

Okay, so I got this fancy new rx7... and when i drive it i noticed that if i'm braking or just letting the gears slowing down (not speeding up or going one speed) it rides kinda rough and theres this sound coming from the back of the car that sounds like something hitting once each time the back drivers side wheel goes around. If I shift hard, this noise is particularly loud and it sounds as if the whole car is going to fly apart. It also feels like something slipping, especially when i scratch second gear and the tires barely slip. Only thing i can think of is a wheel bearing or maybe the LSD is about to fly apart... Any thoughts?
(88 GTU or GXL.. has a little of both )

It could be the rear differential mounts having broken, and what you're hearing is the differential bouncing around. The loud noise on a shift would tend to support this theory.

do you hear a boom noise when you shift? like a bang like somthigns hitting??

sounds like you might have a bad rear diff mount... when it brekas it will alow the front of the diff to move up and smack the underside of the car. its either that or maybe one of hte u joints on your driveline is bad.. but its most likly the rear diff mount....

doesnt sound like wheel bearings to me.... if it was oyur wheel bearings it would be making metalic noise all the time.....
