whats wrong with my old motor

well i took my new engine to my mechanic to have it put in. he called me back today only to tell me that my jspec was locked up.....i called the company to chew their *** and htey fed me a line of bullshit and wouldnt refund my money b/c it has been over a month.......anyway...so i was thinking of jsut rebuilding my old n/a engine. heres the problem......when it blew i was driving down the road and i heard kind of a pop and the next thing i know i couldnt see behind the car because of the smoke...plus it wont idle for ****.....it will crank and drive but it has to be at high rpms or it will die, and smokes like a mother ******.........if ssomeone thinks they know what is wrong for sure just tell me because i think if its possible im just going to get that engine rebuilt and part out the jspec motor...thanks

The pop followed by smoke could be a lot of things, but We'd have to know what color smoke first.. and if it's not running, why not just take it apart to see anyway?

the thing is im fairly new to rotorys adn wouldnt know the first thing to do to it...thats why its at my mechanic....the smoke was just a thick white and smokes thick until you shut the car off....i was wondering if it could be a seal of some sort that would be fairly easy to replace?.......plus it will run just very shitty and would be a hazard on the road because of the smoke lol..

Well it sounds like your old engine is running on one rotor. You probably ruined one of the rotor housings when you blew the apex seal, which could have also taken the rest of them out. Search for the ATF trick and try that on the J-Spec. If its carbon locked, the ATF might be able to break up some of that carbon and free the engine up.
