I thought I heard it was better to put in more water than coolant, my car would run up to 1/2, so I drained it and put like 75% water, 25% coolant, and water wetter. Im here in Ohio, and it was only 60 today and the bitch kept going up to 3/4! Im moving to Flordia this summer, so Ill definetely need to get this figured out.

Run it 50/50, but your addition of the water wetter changes things...

It is better to run water if you are not afraid of freezes. But it is possible that you still have air in your system, and that is causing the overheating. Are you sure you bled the system properly? No air bubbles left? Do not drive the car until you have this figured out, as even running that much hotter is VERY bad for the engine.

Try changing your thermostat and being sure you bled your system and more water is better, when there is no possibility of freezes.

NEVER run a rotary without a 50/50 mix of water and ethylene glycol. It's a corrosion inhibitor, without it you engines insides will rust very quickly! It does actually[r]reduce[/b] the waters cooling ability slightly, but it is still absolutely necessary. Your cooling system is designed to work with it in.
INTBR, Check the thermostat opens and closes at the correct temps, check there's no air in the system and check the radiator is not blocked (it should be evently hot along the length of the tank).

Im bleeding it right now, I didnt know you had to have the heater running with the cap off, I just use to run it with the heater off and the cap off. My bad. How long am I suppose to run it for? I just went out there and the needle is 1/4 of the way up, thats all. I filled the water up to the top of the neck, and there arent any bubbles.

On an 86-87, there is a bleed screw in the side of the radiator neck on the passenger side (upper). I believe '88's are the same way. Loosen this screw (It should have a large wing on it to allow it to be done by hand) until you get coolant out of it. You should get the air first. Reinstall and tighten the screw gizmo, you should be bled!

Run the engine with the radiator cap fill (on the thermostat housing) off until the thermostat pops open (i.e. bubbles).&nbsp Keep filling until it levels off.&nbsp Cap when done.
