Look at the civics in your town with cut springs, 2 story spoilers, 5 gauges on a stock car, speedholes, etc.. Thats rice. Whats nice is widebody kits, decent sized turbos, 400HP, etc..

 

exactly. The car has to have a good overall balance.

 

What you like is nice and what you don't like is rice.
Everyone has an opinion, some think aftermarcket wings are rice, some don't.
Some think having a body kit on a stock car is rice, other don't.
Its all preferance, and most people that call things rice are mostly just haters.
My MX3 gets called rice all the time, it don't hurt my feelings, I can stomp most peoples cars with a N/A Aspec motor.

 

Its all based on peoples opinions.

 

Anything that makes the car go fast is nice. Anything that tries to make a slow car look fast is rice.

IMHO, nice is anything that looks good and has a purpose (to the car or performance wise), rice is the opposite. Like the big 52 inch wing on a Civic is rice, since to my knowledge it doesn't have a purpose. Other then show

neon is usually distasteful, along with led lights where they dont belong(headlight washers, license plate frame), some of those more creative wheels are pretty awful looking, cut springs, awful colors and 'racing stripes' usually look bad unless the car has some serious hp, a electronic speaker that makes bov sounds is rice, and finially taillights that dont belong on the car ie integra lights. i saw a nice Z32TT with teg lights molded in today at school...i couldnt believe my eyes, i wanted to cry...body kits can be stupid looking or they can be nice, just depends on the kit. thats all i can think of for now.

threads like these are retarded, and there is pretty much no good that can come of them.

when you mod your car, you essentially open up the invitation for anyone to call anything on your car "rice". that's because everyone's perception of "rice" is different.

keep your car stock, and you're safe, if you care about other peoples' opinions of your car.

MY biggest pet peeve is cars modded to the point of not being driven. show cars. ugh. SAs, FBs, and FCs don't make good show cars, unless perhaps they look EXACTLY like they just came off the showroom floor. and factory stock import show cars never win prizes.

i guess you can pull off an FD show car. but 1st and 2nd gens are more utilitarian in style and should just be driven.

Aye, not to rant, but a pet peeve of mine is when people confuse "euro" lights with "ricer" lights. Euro FC tail lights are little more than a red lense on one of the reverse lights. Ricer lights, well...

 

i dunno. some things are pretty universally considered rice. for example, blue/yellow/unpainted origami looking bodyparts. also any "ghetto" mods like putting a spoiler on your hood for downforce on the front wheels. Spinner wheel covers, thats rice. carbon fiber look hoods.

i dunno. i guess its your opinion and location. in on ther countries waht we consider rice is very cool. i go to thailand a lot and overthere they have lights up the ying-yang. but thats cool overthere. but most people will consider certain things rice.

 

its been covered a thousand times..... most people on this site say my car is rice.... but in my area, its a very popular style... i grew up around cars like mine... so, naturally... i grew to like it! do you think hispanics are born w/ the nich to put 13" daytons on a 5000 lb. crown vic??? how bout chrome curb feelers and mud flaps??? that is what they grew up around.... so they naturally aquire that taste!!!! it looks hidious to me.... but to each their own! do what you like, not what other people like!!! dont worry about getting flamed!! i dont!! typed words cant hurt anyone!
