whats my motor worth?

whats my motor worth?
so i am beginning the project of swapping a new motor into my car (don't worry staying rotary) and i am planning on selling my old motor.
i am doing a swap because the motor currently has a blown coolant seal and 1-2 apex seals, and my tranny is also in need of replacement so i figure it would be the easier route to just buy a new motor+trans as a package deal.
that being said the motor DID run and drive before i began the uninstall.
the motor though was on it very last leg and i do not believe it would have lasted much longer as just before i started removing it it began pissing coolant from a location i have not yet found.
the transmission is in need of replacement only because the synchros are fairly worn. it would shift prefectly fine while taking it easy and dd'ing the car but when shifting at high rpms they would not grab very quickly and you could easily tell they were not quite all there. i am also told that there are no rebuild kits available for our transmissions anymore...
so my question is, i am doing a partout to fund a good portion of the cost of a new motor and i would like to make a good educated decision about what the best way to get every penny out of my motor+trans would be.
-would it be best to just sell everything as is? how much?
-would it be best to sell motor+trans seperately but still in tact? how much?
-would it be best to tear down my motor and sell off only the useable parts?
please keep in mind i am on a sort of timeline and would like these parts to be sold by at least new years as i hope to be finishing up the swap by mid spring at the latest.
any advice appreciated, thanks.

if apex seals are broken and driven into the rotor housings then that rotor housing isn't worth anything a tranny that needs rebuilding also not worth much but that being said for the lot u could maybe get like 300 bucks for a barely running / not running engine

it also depends if it is a series 4 or 5, the S4 engines are very common where the S5 isn't so much, also depends if it is a turbo engine or non turbo. turbo parts are more difficult to come by for this reason, blown apex seals cause them to be more rare to find.
so with all of that, if it's a S4 non turbo, you can maybe get $100-200 for everything, if its a S4 TII, maybe $200 for the engine and $200 for the tranny, if you're lucky. if it's a S5 non turbo maybe $350 for the lot and if it's a S5 turbo, maybe $500 for everything.
those are average figures to more on the high end. it really depends on who is buying and how far they have to go to get it or pay in shipping costs for a questionable condition motor that may have 0 usable parts. you may have better luck parting it out after cleaning the parts and checking their condition, i buy used engines but not knowing what i am getting you are going to get a lowball price from anyone probably in the neighborhood of $200 for everything, because my thinking is maybe the irons are the only usable parts in the engine and possibly one rotor. mileage also helps determine whether this engine is worth a penny or a dime, if it's over 125k miles the rotor housings are probably toast, the irons need to be lapped and all the bearings replaced.

s5 turbo motor 150xxx miles.
i am fairly certain that all of the issues are contained to one housing, and i believe its the front if that matters.
also i am not positive that the apex seals are gone, its more of an educated guess from the sound of the motor and major loss of power.
i did do a compression test also but all i have is a conventional comp. tester, from the time when i bought the motor to now i have lost ALOT of compression.

If it is pissing coolant internally, and has sat for any length of time, the whole thing could be junk. At least, the side with the coolant leak will be junk.
Your best bet will be to disassemble it and clean everything up, then sell it part by part.

so the housings are on the border of desintagrating, theres at least one blown apex seal, thers coolant leaking into irons, and the tranny is going out??
all in all, itll be the hardest sell u have ever done
ps. what is rotor lapping? any linx?
