What's a good clutch/flywheel combination for a dailydriver/weekend warrior?

I've heard ACT makes a good street clutch, but what light flywheel can I go with it for a dailydriver and kickass on the weekends for an 88 N/A new lightly modded? Please if you can give me details on clutch/flywheel so I can order it this weekend. Thanks guys

normally your best bet for DD is the oem style
but if you require a bit more positive clamping force, and can sacrifice a little comfort, by all means get a sprung hub street/strip clutch... ACT, clutchmasters, or Centerforce should be able to take care of that

I'm running the OE turbo clutch and the RB steel flywheel, and I can vouch for the fact that it's a great setup on my N/A GXL. I would expect the same results for you, even if you're running the N/A Trans (but I wouldn't suggest the N/A trans for a weekend worrior, it'll break for sure).

Please indicate if Exedy Clutch Kit for 1989-92 Mazda RX7 NonTurbo for $135.00 sold by Clutch City Online is ok for DD.

Also, what clutch will last longest - metallic, kevlar, etc.

Cool Thanks for help and knowledge. You saved me $$ and headaches

I guess I'm going to go with the ACT street/strip clutch but do I get an ACT lightweight flywheel or do I stick with the OEM? Anyway I'm getting my car back today from the upholstery shop and I'll post the new pictures of my Rotavert soon. Alot of changes since these pics.

I've been running there set up for a year now and I love it. I'm using ACT HD clutch with #9.5 fly. Very streetable, very heavy pedal feel. The only problem is that I had to get a new clutch master cylinder after two weeks from it leaking so I replaced everything. I've taken this set to the track several times and I haven't felt any signs of wear yet.

if you have a an Act 6-puck clutch it better not be a daily driver because everytime you switch at low rpm its gonna make that irratating scratching noise. it'll destroy your tranny. A 6 puck clutch is made for the track where you switch at high rpms's.

I love my ACT Extreme mated with a Racing Beat aluminum (12lbs with counterweight) flywheel.

I run an ACT 6-puck solid hub w/ the HD pp along with the srmotorsports 9.5lb flywheel and love it. before it snowed here i DD it and have put over 7k miles on it. You just have to be more precise with your shifting and have to rev match every downshift(which you should do anyways) also my tranny is in the same condition as when i bought my car, it has held up really well to me drifting/auto-x and the occasional drag race.

On my daily-driven Cosmo I had 10lb flywheel and 4-puck clutch, and while it was excellent for enthusiastic driving (street, track and strip) I would never recommend it for a daily driver. It was a royal PITA any time traffic was heavy or you just wanted to cruise smoothly. You could do it, it was just more effort that cruising should require. I'd go with a slightly heavier flywheel (~15lb) and a heavy-duty full face clutch for a daily driver.

I've got a Racing Beat street/strip clutch & pressure plate in mine on the stock flywheel. Works fine, chirps the tires in 3rd, and is drivable in traffic. I wouldn't say it's terribly enjoyable to drive in traffic, because the pressure plate is stiffer than stock, but I can slip the clutch when needed for starting on hills & such gently. I have 8k miles on it and as near as I can tell it's holding up just fine (though most of those 8k miles are highway).
