What's better CarbonFiber Hood or intercooler?
I am doing my TII conversion and can't deside on what to do about the TMIC. I was thinking of doing a getoe water intercooler with the sock intercooler, but I want to get the car running a soon as possible because My corollas clutch is about to give.
Now im thinking Carbon Fiber hood or frunt mount intercooler or aftermarket waterintercooler.
C/F intercooler cost arount 700 with shipping and FMIC much more. The aftermarket water intercooler should be around 700 or less.
To many option what do you guys think.
Looks or dependability?

the N/A cf hood is a 34 lb weight reduction from the steel one... how is that for posers? if you are trying to do a bunch of weight reduction (ie me) the cf hood is something you are thinking (or have already decided on) doing in the future to continue dropping the weight as much as you can. You can always paint the cf hood so it looks stock too as to not be a "poser" as you put it

oh i totally agree he should get the FMIC, i never doubted that at all... i was just saying that a CF hood doesnt automatically make you a poser, it is beneficial to some, like me, with steel hoods and are not turbo .............................yet

I my experience, most people get carbon fibre hoods for the look, which is why they don't paint them. The relatively tiny weight reduction is just a bonus.
I actually once asked a guy with a carbon fibre hood why he didn't paint it. He looked at me like I was nuts...

I got a used Trust FMIC kit on ebay for like $400. pretty cool little kit. I only have to cut one hole for piping, and I don't even have to move the battery. plus, I got a nice Trust racing BOV with it too.
although it was a little tricky to figure out where everything went

I have seen some alumminum hoods at eh junk yard in good condition, and they do feel much more lighter.

I'm going with a CF TII hood for my conversion.
This conversion will be my daily driver and I am going to leave it as is for a while before doing upgrades like a FMIC or bigger turbo/injectors.
Already it will be able to kick some ***. I don't think it's for posers. I love the look of the TII scoop hood.
Besides my car is Black so the CF will blend in. I am probably going to spray some clear over the CF to add a protection barrier from the highway driving.
I think the cars with the unpainted baby blue Z3 fenders on a red car and unpainted CF hoods are posers. Cars that don't match are pretty ugly.
The Carbon Creations FD with the whole CF front end is a good example.
For now I will be hacking a huge hole in my NA hood and fiberglassing a make shift scoop. I might add some side extractors over the turbo too just for practice.
