Exclamation What's best option for TOASTED n/a?

My buddy's 87 NA is finished and so his getting a USED Rebuilt engine put in for $1700 canadian. Now I don't know if that's a good deal or not, but I was wondering what the price of a Street Ported engine installed would be? Do you guys know if there is something we can PORT ourselves on this engine his thinking of getting to make more power out of it?

'Used' sounds like it's already assembled. You have to have the motor apart to port it.

If the price includes the motor and installation, it's a heck of a deal.

Is it a USED engine that has just been rebuilt for your friend? Or is it an engine that was rebuilt then used? Are you getting any type of warranty? I mean sounds like a great deal, just wondering why. What is that in USD, like 800-900 dollars?

(street) porting is usually under $300 depending who does it of course but it's best when done on a rebuild while the engine is apart.

This "USED ENGINE" this getting is from a car that has FULL receipts on its lifetime. About 1.5 years ago, the owner of that car blew the engine and so went to Mazda to get a Reman engine put in. Shortly thereafter, in a few months, the engine blew again! So Mazda took that engine apart and rebuilt it themselves at the dealership under waranty. So that's the engine his getting, it has about 20-30K Km on it since it was rebuilt by Mazda about 1.5 years ago. It has 100/95 even compression readings for the front/rear rotor. Is that good?

What about one of the J-spec engines?

FC3S is advertising them for $1000 USD, with about the same amount of miles. If your up for it you would also gain big HP!

Could be fun...
