What are your methods of keeping track of screws?

Like when youre taking a door panel off or pulling the dash or something like that, and there are screws everywhere. Just wondering if there is an easier way to keep track of everything that I'm missing.

"Hill Country Fair" Sandwich bags. Just put them in similar piles and wrap them up in the little baggy. Other than that I have a little drawer thing for various size/length bolts and nuts.

Yea, I use little bags, or when its not that many screws like just taking out the gauge cluster, i use the little change things in the center to seperate them

I have 2. although slightly different than these, I was able to store every bolt/small object from removing/dissasembling my engine. Including organizing all the seals.

or plastic lunch bags

Ziploc bags are your friend.

I used hundreds when I rebuilt my engine!

As a tip: Get the ones with the white squares on them - that way you can write on the bag what they are from! Having a bag ob nuts does nothing for you, but when it is labeled as "UIM to LIM mounting harware" (or something like that) you know exactly what you are doing.

I usually use ziplock bags, but if its something small I just seperate them in piles on the ground (sucks if you kick them though ),

As suggested...zip lock bags. Get the ones w/ the writing/label area and you'll be able to write on the bag w/ a marker.

Another less organized solution is to use those magnetic trays. (although these are good for the engine bay area)

dont forget Folgers cans. no knock-offs. only the finest coffee cans. just dump the rest of your mother's favorite coffee into a nearby cereal box or garbage disposal, rinse, and use for nuts and bolts.

go out and buy yourself a couple of cheap, clear plastic tackle boxes...they have moveable deviders and you can just write on the lid...think they're like $3.99 a peice.

If there aren't that many fasteners, those magnetic parts bowls work really well.

sandwich bags work good. Another thing i do is tape the bag to the part it belongs, ie tape the bag to the strut brace it holds on.

Stick em between 2 pieces of masking tape and ID them with a good felt tip marker. I also have a storage cabinet with the little plastic divider drawers that work well too.
