Question What Would you Do ?

You just bought a 86' GXL.. Stock head to toe.. Manual trans Nothing more then an upgraded cd player.

What would you do to trick her out ?

I am in on this since we have mostly identical cars, mine being 3 years newer so, I have an exaust in the mail and a cone filter in the garage, not much else besides throttle boddy porting and porting the engine. Could strap a turbo to it but that would be costly.

I'd give it to my grandma and go buy a turbo II just kiding.

first full tune up, change EVERY fluid, oil and filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, check timming and tps. flush coolant with new mazda thermostat.

get it running perfect before you start any mods.

then add full exhaust and intake, maybe an ign. box. work on susp, brakes etc.

do what he said then do this: if you don't want to turbo it than get a 400 shot of NOS progressive shot, colder plugs, 118 octane fuel, aqua mister, NOS retard, evans coolant, a 3" exaust, a race exaust port,ceramic coat the rotors and a CM stage 5 clutch. and some realy sticky tires.

intake, gut the cats (all of them), 2.25" exhaust bent by your local shop, have them hang one muffler on it, the pass. side exit (shortest route, lightest set up, least restrictive), convert to an electric fan, underdrive pullies, throw away the AC and PS set up (car is so light, doesnt need PS anyhow), Throttle body mod, be sure your 6 port induction is operatoin!!! w/o your 6 ports opening up, youll be short 20% HP in the top end.

on a side note, w/ a unrestricive exhaust, you may need to find an alternate way to operate your 6ports. tap a hose into your AIR pump output hose, and run it down to the nipple sticking out the pass side of the block. its down low near the exhaust manifold, itll have a hose running to it from the Split air pipe (goes to the catalytic converter). now what you have to do is splice in a Metal fish tank valve (not plastic, it will melt due to under hood temps) into this new hose coming from your AIR pump. you can use this to bleed off excess pressure so that you can time your 6 ports to open at 4000 rpm, and NO LOWER, otherwise your low end HP will suffer.

that oughta satisfy your speed needs for now!
