What would you buy?
What would you buy?
Ok guys I'm finally getting my 1990 TII on friday.
Here is what is done:
Engine rebuild with Street Porting Done
New Street/Strip Clutch
Now that its pretty much all stock what would you guys suggest to buy. My thoughts right now are to get a Turbo Timer for my first purchase, then a BOV.
What were some of the first things you guys bought for your TII? What would you consider you best/favorite purchase?

Quick question for you.
I see there are alot of Exhaust I can go with. Now I have heard from people that spending $600 or so on something like this is a waste when you can go to a muffler shop and get new piping (bigger) put on and buy a generic system for 1/3rd of the price.
Whats your opinion on this. I mean will the name brand stuff really make that much of a difference? Is it really worth the $400 extra?
Just a FYI, I am totally new to all of this car stuff. I mean I have owner several cars....but have never got into the whole car upgrade thing....so forgive me if I appear stupid...because I am when it comes to this stuff

Avoid the muffler shop CRAP!! #1,,, rotaries run HOT,, REALLY HOT,, 2000 degrees vers a piston motors 1200 degrees. This hot exhaust requires special attention, #1 tubing material and muffler packing. Only thick mild steel or stainless is goin to last, the CRAP they sell at muffler shops is thin steel and is only aluminized, in other words its going to rot off in a year or 2 if your cars a daily driver. Also most muffler shops and after market mufflers are not made with super high temp packing, it needs to be stainless wool or ceramic wool. Glass packs only last from hours to days on a rotary. Muffler shops DO NOT MANDREL bend tubing (mandrel bent means it has a "madrel" placed in the tube as its bent to keep the radius from pinching or reducing the overall diameter in the tube). Furthermore,, I have seen so called "Good custom exhaust shops",,, Billy Bob and his welder can make some crappy exhaust. I'd just buy an exhaust, I've done 3 "custom exhaust" using rotary specific (Racing Beat) parts and was never hapy with any of them, sure they sounded great, and would last a life time but im ****, it didnt look as good as a prefab exhaust. Get the Racing Beat FULL exhaust, its well worth it. If you go the muffler shop route get rotory specific mufflers and use stainless tubing and flanges or use 1/8" thick mild steel tubing from Racing Beat. And even then,, make sure you seen "Joe Billy Bob's" work before you get him to do it up for ya. In the end you'll be surprised how much you spent on that custom exhaust and just wish you bought one.
My $.02.......
My $.02.......
save up and get a nice boost gauge...provided the car doesn't already have one.
a turbo timer is nice, but no big deal...i have one but never installed it. i heard that you can't actually arm the alarm locks on the 89-91 cars while the car is still running with the TT anyway (or something like that) just stay off the boost a few miles before you're gonna stop...or sit in the car for a few minutes and enjoy having an such a nice FC!
good luck with it!
