What would make my turbo glow?
s4 block with s5 turbo and it tends to glow every once and i while? is that ok for it or is that bad, i really didn't push it that hard tonight on a about 7 miles drive mostly in 4th and 5th
An EXTREMELY lean (read: dangerous) condition can also cause that. Also rearding the timing ALOT (I don't think it is even possible on a rotary to retard the timing that much though) can accomplish the same result.
Check for clogged cats also, any clogs will cause heat to build and occasionally heat the exhaust to glowing temperatures.
Rule all of these out before you try to drive again.
btw, are you still using the stock iron manifold?

It's normal. You should have a shield on it. That way you don't see it glowing bright orange and won't worry.
Our cars make way more heat, thats why we always have cracks on the hotside and manifold. Get a shield before you melt all your wires and vacuum hoses.

If you are beating on the car and look at the turbo right after some hard driving, expect it to glow. That is normal. If it glows at idle or during light driving, then the car is running way too rich.
