what will $5k get me
how would i spend 5k?
-full exhaust (turbo back)
-intake
-FCD
-720 cc secondaries
-SAF-C
-stage 1 hybrid upgrade (BNR )
-boost & air/fuel gauges
-E-fan
-NPR front mount
with some change left over
Then you can get rid of some stuff just to make it less cluttered in the engine bay. (emissions, PS, AC, stock fan....) I think on 5k you could see 12's

performance for idiots huh? lets see
-turbo back exhaust sytem---Im hoping that one is self explanatory
-intake---again, self explanatory
-FCD (fuel cut defensor) the factory ECU cuts fuel at a certain boost level (10psI?). this tricks the ecu and allows the fuel to maintain beyond the factory fuel cut limit
-680/720 cc fuel injectors. run these as your secondary injectors. so with the turbo upgrade and the free flowing exhaust, you have enough fuel to match the air. BTW, factory TII's run 550cc injectors.
-S-AFC---piggy back fuel computer (click here
-hybrid turbo---uses stock HT18 compressor housing with a larger H3 compressor wheel...MORE BOOST
-gauges---help let you know what your blowing up in there!
-E-fan gives you no real HP gain, but really cleans up the engine bay. looks really cool too!
-NPR front mount---cheap intercooler upgrade. the stock top mount IC isnt all that great. it does fin for stock boost levels, but once you start in with more fuel, its just over worked. NPR is an intercooler from an isuzu truck. you can pick them up from 150 bucks on.
hope that helps some more!

We all TII guys here though.
A ported motor will definitely lay down the foundation for a high HP car. I would consider a chip if you can get your hands on one. They're often for sale on the partstrader. I would hold off on the cat-back and get the 3" turbo to cat-back single piece pipe. (if you're not concerned with emissions, or you can weld a cat to that too), intake and an FCD if you haven't gotten a chip for your car. The stock S5 fuel pump took me to high 13's, so a 3rd gen (cheaper) could take you into the 12's. A lightweight flywheel help out with my turbo lag soooo much. Man that was one of the best investments i made to that car. That, and a Hybrid turbo. For that also chekc out. www.turbochargers.com or www.majesticturbo.com They offer good prices, but you're looking at about $ 500-$600 for the good upgrades. the stock I/C is sufficient to let you run 12's so wait a little later for that one. There are so many things really that it would be impossible to list all the possible combinations that you could do....... Will this be a daily driver?, do you have to pass emissions?, Is noise a major concern? On and ON. Good luck

Ryde or Die has the right idea. Pending on the mileage and how hard it will/or has been driven you should definetly take his advice and do some safety mods. It's the way I went and I'm thankfull I did.
