Question What is this unit (electrical gurus welcome)

Ok here's the scenario....in the pic you will see a small silver box and a picture of its connector which was with my car originally (86 N/A GXL) and is located near the front passenger side of the engine bay. I am in the middle of an S4 N/A to S4 T2 Conversion right now.

The T2 harness I originally got with my engine had a connector for this silver unit, but that harness was really shot and hacked up. I got another S4 T2 harness to replace it but the replacement is missing this connection. Now, in the picture are the wires that are on the ORIGINAL (hacked up) engine harness. The Black/Yellow goes towards the ECU, the other 4 wires (Brown, Brown/Red, Brown/White, Brown/Yellow) go towards the engine side of the harness. Now in my REPLACEMENT harness, this connection does not exist and the Black/Yellow wire runs through with no breaks (it was not hacked off of there by someone and spliced back together). The other wires (which run towards the engine side of the harness from that plug on the ORIGINAL harness) are non-existent in the REPLACEMENT harness. There is a smaller gauge brown/yellow and brown/white wire, but that is also present in the ORIGINAL harness too.

Now for the question.....
Is this silver unit needed anymore, and if it is, where exactly do those 4 other wires go (the ones that run towards the engine side of the harness)? If it is not needed, are there any other modifications I need to do?

Thanks for your help

I think that is the resistor pack. If you have high imp injectors you don't need it.

Not sure which injectors I have....guess I will search for that soon, but the engine is from an 88 T2 and the ECU is N333. I'll start searching on injector impedance info right now.

Thanks Santiago for pointing me in the right direction. After you told me what it was I hit up Kevin's (Rotary Resurrection) website and looked at some more info, gave him a call to double check and all's good. Off to Radio Shack I go!

P.S. Kevin's the man! lol
