What are transmission electrical connectors for?

On my 87 Turbo tranny, there's a couple electrical connectors. What are they used for? I assume one is for the reverse light, but what would the other be? Anybody know?

If I don't need them, they're gone. I'm making a new wiring harness from scratch to try and pretty things up even more.

On a 87 model there is a neutral switch and a 5th gear sw(overdrive switch). The overdrive sw affects the split air solenoid valve and is connected to the ECU on pin 1L. The neutral sw goes to pin 1G on the ECU. One thing we know about that sw is that it disables the 17 sec warm up of the cats at 3000 rpm. Thats all I know about those two and what they effect. There could be more that I'm not aware of .

My car is a trailer only track car with a Wolf 3D, so I don't even have the stock ECU. Sounds like I don't need either of these connectors. That'll help tidy things up a bit
