What are the tolerences of my n/a drivetrain?

I need to know what the max hp I can run on my stock drive train. Like tranny, driveshaft and rear diff. I have the opportunity to receive a 243hp engine to put in my non opperational n/a. During the christmas break I can raise the hp to 500 with the help of my brother-in-law. I know they wont take 500 too well but how about 243?

I have no clue man Im guessing not much since the t2 has like a different drive train from the na's and the na's couldn't handle the 225 hp so im guessing its not going to handle 243 if you think about it : ) but who knows i don't im just using the common sense aspect Id like to know how much the na's would hold though if you find out pm me!

Uh, OK. And you're getting 500HP out of an NA engine how?

I know they wont take 500 too well but how about 243?

The TII drivetrain will be marginal at 500HP. The NA drivetrain will handle 300 if you don't abuse it.

I am ssoo sorry I have to do this. Its my only option. I got this great deal on a V6 a friend of mine has.(Free) and I don't have a way to fix my rotary right now cause I'm out of a job. When I get enough money the rotary will be slamed back in there. please don't hate me. This is my daily driver/only car so I need it to drive. Piston is a quick fix.

Sell the free V6 and buy a j-spec!!!!!!! That would be the smart thing to do. You are gonna have to fab some stuff to get the v6 in there so that is gonna cost even more money!

I really have nothing against pistons; hell, my daily has one of those clunkers in it. But getting a piston motor or any other motor beside stock into your car is not going to be easy. Getting it in the car in under a week is a very high mountain to climb, even more so when working with a limited budget. More power to you if you get it done; but I think buying a junker to rock for awhile while you fix the 7 would be your best bet. You could probably get a running 92' cheby cav for under $500.

Well we'll see. If I can get the RX-7 diagnosed and on its way to being fixed by teusday of next week then no V6. If I can't then thats whats happenin.

I'm thinking that installing the V6 will not be a quick fix...

Thats your prob Aaron. Trust me. I do these kinds of swaps. The fab of parts? Almost nothing. This is the best thing right now. at least I can look at the V6 and know exactly whats wrong with it, instead of having everyone and their grandma help me with this car and NO ONE has been able to tell me whats wrong. Not even the guys at mazda. Or even you guys. Sorry if you don't agree but I have to have this car drive....now.

My problem is that I'm afraid of fab work, or large/long projects? Hardly.

I don't know your background, so if you spend your days swapping 350s into Minis then I have no doubt that you can do this swap. Though the work required is akin to installing a 20B...

Well you'll just have to trust me on this one Aaron. The only fab work is motor mounts and shortening the drive shaft.
