I know the size, but I'm curious as to what actual tires came on them from the factory.

And where would have those tires fit on the scale of tire performance compared to other tires of the day. That scale being Racing Slick > DOT R-Compound > Track-Ready Street Tire > Sports Car Summer Tire (which is a scale of it's own, arguably) > Sports Car All Season > Premium/Comfort All-Season/Summer > Passenger All-Season > Bargain Basement Tires.

I'm not concerned about actual performance numbers, since today's high-grip radial sports car tires are actually better than the DOT-legal R-compounds back in the day.

the 14" S4 models came on bridgestone potenza's (before it was a potenza something something)

the 15" cars came on bridgestone Re71's

and the US T2's came on goodyear eagle GT's...

the RE-71 was developed for the FC, so you can read that to say the DTSS curve is optimal on an RE-71. the Re71's were quite good, although its been a long time since they were available.

Thanks!

I guess it's something like this, so it's a high-performance tire just one notch below track-ready (extreme performance summer) street tires.
