I am just wondering what the door in the turbo manifold is and what it does. And I am also wondering what the vacume canister is in the other picture, and what it takes to open it. Since the things in each picture are conected.

remove it..... that thing is restrictive and if you love your car at all you will let it warm up and that will become useless... its basically so you can't runn full boost on a cold motor/turbo....

how do you remove that? and do you have to take off the manifold to do so? (obviously you have to take the turbo off). my twin scroll does not work.
oh, and teh 2nd picture would be the actuator for the twin scroll, right?

That's the twin-scoll control system, that closes off one of the turbine's scrolls at low rpm to so that boost builds quicker. At 2700rpm that flap opens and the turbo gets exhaust flow from both scrolls. If you have a loudish exhaust you can hear the changeover.
If you just disable this system and wire the flap open you'll lose some response from the turbo (i.e. more turbo lag) but there will be no gains. If you remove the flap entirely you'll still lose response but there'll be a small top-end gain. I doubt it's much.
astrochild, you're thinking of the #2 secondary throttles that are held closed until the engine warms up.

I dont think there is ANYONE who has ever said "I get more lag from removing my twin scroll". Just from a scientific stand point, you will get more. But its questionable on how much more and if you will even notice it.

(I like the second option better)
