yeah!! those are the ones i like. i dunno how he did that but hes a member here on this board i think. he had a thread up not too long ago, a write-up on how to make the clear 3rd brake light. so maybe someone can dig him up and ask him how he did that.

I bet the upper is plexi tinted with taillight tint, and the bottom is flourescent light covering.

This is so hard. I love them both. I look at my 88 and I'm like why would I want to replace those tails. Then I look at the car parked in front of it an am like "those are some pretty sweet tail lights"

s5 are way better!......and i dont think the thunderbird tails come close to the s5 tails.....no way!

 

Those were being sold on Ebay a while back, but there were only one pair for sale...

s5 tail lights look like **** during the day time. I hate the side orange crap on them too. S4 looks good durning the day time and looks cool at night too, but not as good as s5 at night. Im staying with s4 and I would never spend money to get s5 tail lights.

 

i like the s4's wiht a tail light tint... but i am starting to like the s5's now.....but they are expensive

 

At first i liked the S5 tale light but when i figured out they are of the ford thunderbird i don't like them as much now.

 

On a related but different subject, I am making rough mock-ups of a sleepy eye 4 round headlight conversion, I figured out how to do the pop-ups at the right height without rigging a kill switch or anything like that. The actual lights will probably be the easier part, but may be time consuming. I will post updates and pics, and unlike so many others I plan to actually finish this project and not give up.

...........BTW, where can I get one of those clear brake lights from??? As for the S5 rears if I can`t find some cheap at a bone yard I might fab something similar to those too.

.........I can't believe I just got this car and the first thing I am doing before anything meaningfull, is headlight/taillight mods, I must be part riceboy or something.

for you people who complain about the S5 lights lookin like **** during the day..why not drive with your parking lights on? Then the circles are illuminated and it doesnt look like big red

I want some S4 and S5 tail light pics...

I'm a newb and am curious; what is the difference between s4/s5 (determining factor in the car, year?)?

 

S4 = 1986-1988 RX-7s
S5 = 1989-1991 RX-7s

i like the s4 better. Yes i doooooo have an s4, but i think like a line... a bar looks cooler at night than circles. looks....meaner.

 

i have 2 S4s and one S5 and i must say that the S5s look good stock. but as those diamond back lights present, the S4s have much more potential to look good. i like a diamond back style painted to body color.



i dont know why everyone thinks sleepy-eye lights are difficult, all you have to do is change the length of the actuator arm and they work like stock but lower.
