What springs for GXL

I'm putting Tokico Blues on my car. I want to get springs as well. I'm working on a budget here, so keep that in mind.

First, a couple questions.
1. I know nothing about coilovers vs. regular springs. Are they just a straight-up simple replacement for regular springs?
2. Of the commonly available brands for springs, what is best for the money?

So basically, I'm asking this: What springs should I use for my GXL?

most coil overs tend to be very stiff, and while that is great for a track or autoX car, it may be a poor choice for a DD.

Springs are generally same kind of stiffness all around. You get to choose since there are soo many.
If you're new to suspension (as you say you are), you're going to want to pay attention to spring rates. The higher the spring rate, the stiffer it is. If you want something that is good for Daily Driving, you're going to want to be below 4 kgf/mm. If you're a person like me and don't mind the stiff ride. Go somewhere around 4-8 kgf/mm. Any higher and you're dealing with Formula type racing.
Cheap brands? Don't get anything that most haven't chosen. Teins are really nice, really expensive. Racingbeat springs are really nice and not too expensive as well. As I said earlier, pay attention to some of the specs, most products that seem competitive to other brands IMHO: A good buy.

I still need to know whether coilovers are a straight-up replacement for stock springs, or if more modifications are needed to install them. Also, my car is mostly driven for fun or on the freeway, where the higher spring rates will be either advantageous or neutral. I don't mind a harsh ride, anyhow.

Here are a few options that I've looked at:

Teins for $150, 2.1-2.4 spring rate, 1 inch drop.

Tanabe springs, $180, spring rates 3.0-2.5

Ground Control coilovers, Eibach springs... I asked the member for spring rates, and apparently it can be adjusted between no drop and a 1.5" drop.

Does anyone have any opinions on or experience with any of the springs I listed above?

Has anyone ever used any of those springs? I'm especially interested in the last kit.

do not buy teins off ebay unless u know wat you are looking for... people make and sell fake teins on ebay and they actually have caused many break downs and failures... look up online how to tell the diff between fake and real and make sure the ones on ebay aren't fake... actually id do that for all the springs or any thing you buy off ebay especially if they show or if they are an ebay store and have mass quantities of the product.
