I will NOT swerve to miss an animal unless I am SURE that I am not endangering myself first.
I'm sorry, but my life is worth more to me than a cat/dog/squirrel's is. 90% of the time you hit the animal AND lose control, anyways, so it's just not worth it.

I have seen many many more accidents from people hitting an animal than swerving.

Ever see what a 100 lb deer does to the front end of a car???

Or how about a 15 lbs possom that tweeks the front suspension enough that the car looses traction on the front end, spins, and smashes into the guard rail???

No... you always want to avoid hitting anything, from a rock to a bull, that could cause a loss of road holding.

if you're not driving full tilt, 10/10ths ***** to the wall, you should be able to avoid most obstacles like animals. "never drive beyond your headlights"

Anyhow

S5 seats will work in S4 cars, you just have to use parts of your S4 seat rails.

As far as other car seats go? i doubt it, without modification. You might have some luck fitting FC rails onto a Miata seat...but with the time and effort required to do something custom like that...you're better off just buying a good new seat with rails. (Bride, Sparco, Recaro)
