The highest I've ran it was 7500 RPMs, and that was in a straighataway on a autocross event where shifting to 3rd would have been more trouble than help.

Plus when you shift a little above redline, it plants your RPMs right in the sweet spot with the secondaries open and everything. Even more so with a TII, it's all spooled and ready to go.

My buzzer goes off just under 7,000

I usually wind it out all the time, usually 6,000, enuf to overcome the hesitation at 4k and get rid of the obnoxious whirrrring noise at 5k

With my NA, I used to shift at approx 7400rpm with no apparent loss in power.

With the new engine, I usually dont need to shift over 7k.

The guys running the pro 7 series say that if you're not hearing the buzzer, you're in the wrong gear

I guess their philosophy is that even though the hp curve has started to drop off, they take into account where the rpms are going to pic up again on the next upshift. I guess they figure to keep it right in the meat of the band they need to be shifting past the buzzer.

I shift from 3-4k when driving on the street, and when drag racing.. I shift at about 7500-8500rpms and my car is still pulling like crazy.

S5 GTU.

7500-8500? What are your mods? Is your car tuned to rev that high because there is not much power up there on a stock engine?

It's funny tha i don't hear buzzing!!!!

I don't hear any buz when i'm in 7k. I have a stock engine is it safe to go pass 7k since we don't have rev limiter. I've pass 7k before like around 7.5k to 7.8k. My car runs fine. But i just got my car, so i'm just learning it's behavior.

So just wanted to know if it's safe to pass 7k?? if it is then how high?? this is an S4 by the way.

when i got my TII dynoed, the stock turbo stopped producing power at about 6500rpms. it was just choking past that point.

when i ran my 13.9 i was shifting at 7500, so i cant wait to go back and shift at 6500 to see if i get any increase in times.

1991 Convertible with 64k original. I shift between 4500 and 6000 usually. Rarely go past 7000. Since I installed a Bonez Intake and Racing Beat cat back-it seems to come alive after 5000 RPM. Joy of a Rotary!

i think shifting so it drops at max torque is more important than where it stops. sure u won't be pulling much, but u won't be pulling much when you're not in the band right?

Why is everyone so worried about reving??
Ok if you want to save gas shift under 3k, i do this in my TII and i get the best gas milage i can. I actually shift at 2k and i get 19mpg.
If you want to race just rev untill you hear a loud buzzer then shift, its whats its there for. If its disabled then just shift at 7k. Its what the engine was designed for, if its a s4.
