What is this other part of the fuel level sender? It's attracted to fuel pump magnets

I installed a Denso FD fuel pump in my S4 n/a bracket, and the end of this stiff wire rod thing is being magnetically attracted to the fuel pump. I don't recall if it was doing this with the stock pump. Is this an issue?

Thanks.

Should I just carefully slightly bend it away from the pump so it doesn't get attracted magnetically?
