What Next?
What Next?
Ok, here is a list of what I currently have, and what i'm getting really soon for my 89' TII:
- Racing Beat 3" Turboback
- A'pexi Intake
- S-AFC
- Walbro
- Ported Wastegate
- Air/Fuel Gauge
- Boost Gauge
- FD Rims with Toyo Proxes
- FCD
- Some BOV (not decided yet)
There might be something i'm overlooking, but thats the basic mod list so far. I'm actually at a point now where i'm on a buying spree, the exhaust/fuel control as well as wastegate porting will be done within a month, and then I will be doing some dyno tuning. Basically, what i'm looking for is a safe setup, but with the max performance. Am I good as far as injector sizes go with the stock ones? I'll probably do like 10-11 psi on this setup, but what I am also wondering is if there is a way to switch on and off a higher boost setting easily without an electric boost controller?
Basically what i'm getting at, is if there is any way to go from a pretty conservative psi number to a bigger one for on the go performance without an electric boost controller? Also, the S-AFC II has the ability to store different settings to change between right?
Besides that, what do you think my next upgrade should be? I'm thinking possibly some strut bars, ignition, springs, electric boost controller, turbo timer, save up for a FMIC, or whatever you guys suggest as my next mod. Also, this is on an 89' TII with 120k original miles, and about 15k on a rebuild, actually probably like 17k now thats in good running condition with nothing i've noticed wrong with it. I'll probably be buying a new O2 sensor as well when I get the exhaust.
So what would you guys go with, and do you have suggestions on the whole tuning and safe/performance settings?

1) don't trust that a/f gauge to tune by...
2) you should think about adding bigger secondary injectors.
3) A bigger radiator wouldn't hurt. Your engine will take less stress if you have an upgraded radiator.
4) the only way to switch between boost settings (reliable that is) without electronic boost controllers is something like the turbo xs dual stage manual boost controller. If you are going to start playing with boost like that, you should really think about getting a better fuel control system than the s-afc...

1) Not tuning it by my a/f gauge, mine is just there for a general idea
2) About what size for my setup?
3) What are some good brands? Should I keep the stock fan with it as well?
4) If I didn't want to go with switching boost levels, and staying at a certain psi, with my current setup, what would be the best psi to shoot for as far as high performance but still safe? Something like 10?
