What On The NA Diff Breaks At High Horsepower Levels?

What exactly will not hold up to over 250hp on the N/A diff? I know i can get a TII diff or a Kaaz or some other diff. I have a N/A LSD and a Open I was going to weld my open for drifting, but would that be enough to strenghthen it?

Really need to find out what breaks in the N/A diffs that make it unusable for over 250hp.

PM Zbrown, I think I remember a thread where he mentioned his NA LSD holding up to over 400 hp. (track days...)

The weak link in the NA drivetrain is the tranny, if the above is true.

cool. yeah i'm not going to be using the N/A trans. just gotta make the TII trans fit to my N/A diff, not sure if N/a drive shaft bolts up to TII trans, so i might have to go throught Mazdatrix to get a driveshaft that works. or just get the TII driveshaft and Diff assembly.

Well, the TII driveshaft and diff assembly will be a bit of a PITA to find and install... more PITA to find a S4 TII rear in good shape (clutch type is more preferred over viscous from S5's).

Personally, I opted for the Mazdatrix shaft. Some others just get custom driveshafts made from driveshaft shops... usually winds up being cheaper.

James

PS: The NA driveshaft does not fit with the TII tranny and rear. Not sure which one, I just know it doesn't work.

yep that was my other plan, my buddy works at a trans and drive shaft shop and he said he could build me one if i needed so i'm thinking thats my best solution, if the said diff can hold over 250hp.

I really want to use my open/welded if it will strenghten it, and i love how easy it is to drift with a welded. slides like butter.
