It adjusts the idle when you have the AC on by adding extra air to the intake.

If you take off the BAC on a TII you will have to take the intercooler off to adjust your idle with the throttle stop screw from now on, as the BAC is used to set the idle speed on a TII.

When I took my BAC off, the idle was still the same. I just had my throttle cable adjusted wrong when I had the upper intake off. I think it should be fine.

The BAC valve stands for "Bypass Air Control" valve. It's a valve that allows vacuum mass air to be drawn around the throttle body when the throttle body is closed shut. It's an electronic device w/ a motor that's designed to trim and maintain your idle to a sustained engine RPM. It is also used to control decceleration engine RPM as it drops back down to desired engine idle speed. The BAC valve on the 2g turbo models rests on the passengre side of the car not too far from the charcoal canister.
