what happened to my good running 87 na

I have had my 87 (first rx-7) for about 1 year. Bought it after it sat in the same place for 4 years ...never moverd or started. Well I have tinkered and played around with it and just the last couple of weeks it was running fine! Last night I was cruising on I-10 about 80 mph and all of sudden I looked at the tac and it says "O" but all the rest of the car was fine ...lights radio, windows everything was fine but no motor, wouldn't crank nothing. I popped the clutch and nothing. Today we worked on it mostly diagnostic and we got the car to crank but no start. Fuel pump works fine, good voltage to the igniters, starter good, injectors ok, but no spark. We took a dinner break read some and went back armed with our homemade "complete tester" (www.teamfc3s.org/info/errorcodes/main/html) article "monitoring signals". Any ways we went back hooked up our tester and bamm!!! it started It made it about a block after setting at idle for 5-10 minutes. After a block just pettered ou, quit tryed to go again you know alittle surge then nothing ...just quit again. After 2 1/2 hours of more trying this, trying that, testing, jumping ...we towed it home. What do I do next?? Is it coils , ecm, any insight or experiences. I am not a mechanic and i don't know what to do next!

So - did you get any error codes?

Maybe check for a loose AFM connector. You could have jiggled it when hooking up the test light.
