What FC to get

Hi, my friend just sold his 240sx and is need for a turbo car. He has choosen a FC. I know this subject has been posted before but I see some conflicting responses so I wanna try to get a clear answer. He has the opertunity to get a 88 turbo2 with 30k on a rebuild motor for around $4500. But since we live next to Meriah MotorSports. He can get a blown s5 turbo and a full motor rebuild for less then 6k fo the car and everything. So hes trying to decide whats better. I know the motor is better in the s5 but i also hear since it has higher compression, It cant take as much boost? and its 200lbs heavyer then a s4. So can anyone tell me the pros and cons of getting each model and what would you recoment my friend to get. Thanks for your help guys!

S-5 TII all the way! It has the same compression as the FD so I see no problem...What you can do if you want is get a S4 TII motor and put it in the S5 so you can run more boost--it will take a little more work but not to much--its been doen before!!

For the 1500 Difference Id take the S4. The S5 has a slightly better turbo and wastegate design, but thats about it. The car is overall heavier, has the viscous LSD instead of the clutch-type that the S4 has, the S5 has those damn mouse seatbelts. Also the S5 has a electrical OMP instead of the mechanical (better) that the S4 has. Overall the S5 may look a little better due to some styling changes (gauge cluster, taillights, body mouldings) but I dont think that its anything to be really concerned about, when you can get the S4 for cheaper.

Or you could...

Jsut get the Blown S5 motor !!!BUT!!! have them use S4 rotors instead of S5 rotors.

"You'll be able to mad boost like 25 lbs yo!!!"

Serious though you could do this.

Haha, I only hope that was a joke.

But, i will give you the same advice I got when I was looking for my car my car... if your friend is going to be modding the car to fairly high hp numbers(300+), get the S4, because the extra 20 hp the S5 has now, won't make much of a difference in the long run, and it's heavier. But if he is keeping it relatively stock, get the S5, better styling IMO, and a little more juice on it, better turbo setup etc...

If it weren't for the damn OMP's on the series 5, I would say s5. But god damn do I hate those things.

sweet

Man, I really like the s5 styling etc. But reading bout the s4 rotors instead of s5 ones makes me wonder. I again hear these conflicting opinions. My friends at least foreseeable power goal is to get a stock hybrid turbo and make 300+ to the crank. So whats my best choice for this. Of course he wants to make it reliable as possible. Well one more thing: where can I find s4 rotors. I will ask Mariah too. Those who have done this, where did u find them?

you could also swap the S5 bumpers, side moulding, and taillights onto the S4. if you like the S5 styling that much better.

go with the S4!!! 300 crank horsepower should be easy. you can like almost do that with the stock turbo.

im the guy thats trying to figure out what car to get. I know about the styling but in the long term, would it better to get a s4 because its 200lbs lighter or a s5 bc the motor is better. Is the motor on the s5 even better? Can a s5 handle as much boost as a s4 can? And is there a site those stock hybrrid turbos i keep hearing about? Thanks for the help guys!!!!!!!!!!
