what the f&*$ could this be?

alright, the other day my car was at a friends house. I come over try to start it to leave and it just turns over and won't crank. Its getting fuel because it flooded a little bit. Today I pulled the plugs out cranked it w/o them and shot a bunch of gas out. Sprayed the plugs down with WD-40 and wiped them off, let them dry, put them back in, still not a damn thing. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be leaking a little bit of oil out of the spark plug holes but it was. My plugs are pretty shitty but the car should still run, I was going to unplug the fuel pump and try to start the car. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas other than a compression test. Let me know. Thanks.

PS: The car is a 1990 GTU with 144k miles on it.

Take the EGI fuse out and crank it three times for about ten seconds with the gas pedal to the floor(all the way to the floor) replace the fuse and start the bitch. She will smoke for about 3-5 minutes but is normal. You should replace the plugs soon if your car got badly flooded. There is supposed to be oil in there that is what lubricates the apex seals.

Does it crank over or not. You said it does, then you said it doesnt. Make up your mind.

Is it spinning over fast and sounding like no compression? Maybe add a couple of mL of engine oil to each chamber, put the plugs back in and spin it without firing (fuse out), or leave the plugs out and rotate slowly by hand. Then good plugs in and it should fire off. Sounds like you flooded it pretty severely.

Good luck
