What to expect from a stock S4 TII

Newb on rx7's here;

What to expect from an S4 TII in stock form? how does it respond to mods?

Heard that stock ECUs are very restrictive... looking to get close to the 250 whp mark.

Input or ideas?

at stock its pretty slow.
To get to 250rwhp is pretty managable. Many people will tell you before getting to your hp goal, is that, do you have enough fuel. Getting to 250rwhp on stock injector is pretty much pushing the duty cycle to the max.
a set of 720cc injectors, boost controller, free flowing exhaust, and a ecu of some sort to tune it and you are up there at 250 rwhp.

A place to start: http://fc3spro.com/TECH/FM2W/power.htm. It's fairly out of date, but if you search around the forum you'll find TONS of information on properly modifying a TII.

you better learn the upkeep and reliability stuff first. Problems a stock one can have:

--interior electrical problems

--cracked interior parts

--engine hesitations due to bad/dirty ground wires

--bad vacuum lines or intake manifold gaskets

--clogged cats

--sagging suspension and bad rear steer bushings

--transmission grinds

you will have to deal with at least some of those before you start modding

Heard that stock ECUs are very restrictive... looking to get close to the 250 whp mark.
you can reprogram the stock ECU with an Rtek chip, which costs maybe 1/2 to 2/3 as much as similar programmers from Cobb etc on other cars
