I'm sure you guys NEVER think of racing your rx-7s (hahahaha) but seriously: What in general could a 2nd gen non turbo FC beat?

5 speed manual. Can it beat this poser wannabe Honda loving idiot who thinks a $50 POS muffler will make his car leet? Aka a Civic with no upgrades?

But i have done a swap, ported my engine, and done lots of mods on it including 5speed swap, extensive weight reduction.. blah blah and mine is rather quick now
The coupes are quicker, technically, you should have no problem with the civic, especially when/if your 5/6th ports open up.

cars I've beat (stock 'cept exhaust):
1) all civics that have ever wanted to race
2) all the big block trucks driven by rednecks, inc. the duallies
3) all the v-6 'stangs (most don't ever want to race, they're embarrassed to have the v-6, I think)
4) all the other retro 80-90's cars our size (Nissans, Toyotas, etc...)
Noticed as a result of several races I am almost exactly as fast (from freeway speeds) as the 'stang 5.0's
cars I've lost against:
1) Mustang SVT
2) mid 90's Z-28 that was obviously on 'roids
3) Miata turbo (just barely)
4) Infinity Q45 (that car was impressive)
Haven't been able to get a C4 or earlier 'Vette to run, yet...ain't even gonna mess with the C5's
Getting the power band going in 4th gear is what seperates us from most cars...
I wanna take on that Q45 again with a little nitrous
...after the rebuild, scathcart...

we both had to slow down due to traffic, but he was pulling away slowly the whole time...we were already rolling when we started, third gear, I think, didn't have a chance even if we didn't have the traffic...that SVT was the most badass car I've run against- I don't race at all from a stop, rotaries are slow as **** from the line, and we need to keep that in mind (stock/ near stock), all my races have been from a roll, the vast majority of them have been from 70 or so, freeway speeds...lot easier on the drivetrain, IMO

i wouldnt say rotaries are slow off the line, just do a 6k launch and you get to 30mph pretty damn quick. ive never been beaten off the line when i launch my car, this is obviously a 5spd, the auto cant launch for ****.

Are you ribbing me 'cause I like to pick my races/ speeds, RETed? That's O.K., I'm an old fart now, and try to race only in VERY safe conditions now...I lost my first 7 (an 84) to a couple of trees because of excessive speeds in unsafe conditions...after the age of 30 or so you don't feel invinceable anymore

Stock for stock I do NOT think a vert would beat a civic, sorry guys. The mid 90's civic (ie DX, EX, etc) ran a mid 16 stock. n/a fc's (non-vert) ran mid 16's stock, and the verts are slower than them. Now if you're talking modified, then who knows.

This guy really is an ******* though, and I don't want to race him and get totally owned (I have to see him evry day,) but I do stand a semi-good chance of not getting burned too bad or even better yet, winning?

well your profile says you have a 88 GTU.
Mine before thr turbo swap ran a 17.1 and my 88 SE ran a 17.4
It ulitmately depends on the health of your car. If it's still sporty then you have a chance. Remember it's a 14+yr old car/engine.
Be prepared to hang with the civics or get beat.
The only way to tell what you run is to go to the track!
or
the unsafe method of racing on the streets against some other stock honda.

Well this 7 is in pretty bad shape I think. 80k miles, no upgrades, just stock. At this point the muffler is glass pack without glass (some idiot thought they were cool and busted them out)
The body's in good condition. I've removed the heating and AC as well as the power steering, everything I can think of that takes away from the engine power. Hey I've got a sunroof, who needs A/C, right?

So how does one become a "good diver" I mean I'm out here in the middle of friggin Iowa, told by my all too wise father that If i race, i loose my wheels...
I suppose I'll just have to settle with-- what was that line from Fast and the Furious "granny shiftin', not double clutching"
lol I have no idea what either of those are but apparently it's not good!
