What does it mean when... fuel related question
What does it mean when you have no fuel pass the the engine bay fuel filter?... the filter only has about 6k miles on it. it shouldn't be bad.. i have fuel in the fuel lines at the fuel pump.. but no fuel on my plugs...its odd.. they smell of oil but not fuel.. car cranks ok... battery is fine.
its a 91 n/a FC...

Check your EGI fuse in the engine bay.If that is blown,No fuel.
and IF that is the problem, and it blows again, then you have a short in your wiring.
This is just one guess though..other people will chime in I am sure.

can you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key to on?
do you have fuel right below the fuel filter?
sounds like your fuel pump is probably dead. go see how to check your fuel pump in the FSM, you should be able to check it without opening the tank.
also, your fuel lines might be on backwards. I've heard that on JDM engines they're really easy to get backwards...

Also make sure your ECU is grounded. No ground = it won't turn on your fuel pump, or run the rest of the car..

did you at any time disconnect both rubber lines at the Engine?
I'm thinkin the same as the other Lad,that the fuel lines are on Backwards?
Question on the Fuel filter itself,do they have like a check valve that only allow fuel one way?.if they are Manufactured that way then if it is installed Backwards, you wouldn't get fuel past the Filter.Only up to the filter..
also check a fuse in the Cabin, marked Fuel(pump?).it is under the driver's side dash.

On a stock non messed up/fooled up car (read WALDO INSTALL), if you hold the key to Start the fuel pump will run. Well, it'll run IF the ENGINE fuse is any good.
But it seems much simpler to just jumper the yellow fuel pump check connector and put the key to ON. Fuel pump should run. IF not, then the ENGINE fuse is bad.
If you hear your MAIN RELAY pull in when the key is put to ON, then the engine fuse is good.
Or the plug is off the pump. Or........ lot or OR's out there.
Well, on a 91 one of the OR's would be the plug is off the fuel pump resistor relay in front of the airfilter/afm assy.
When you crank the engine the tach needle should bump very slightly. If not, then you've a problem other than just the fuel pump. Like ENGINE fuse/EGI fuse/Main Relay not pulling in. Stuff.

are you sure you are looking at the fuel line and not some other line?
undo the fuel pump cover and go buy some extra fuel hose and run the hose from the fuel pump feed nipple to the ground and then click the ignition switch on if no fuel comes out its you pump...upgrade to a walbro while you at it...

Walboro is overkill for a na, if you had a turbo its a must. For NA you ll be running super rich, flood the engine all the time , and eat through gas like no tomorow.
