Get a compression check done to see how good the motor really is, then ya will know whats up. Also just make sure ya dont got any vaccuum leaks, oil/coolant leaks etc... also how many miles are on the engine?

it has 151K miles, my 87 FC tends to overheat to the 1/2 mark and i have to add coolant every morning, but my FC runs good.
