Water thermo switch, this is located @ the bottom of the radiator on the drivers side. I just want to know what purpose it serves, I just seen that mine is broke. Maybe this is why my car is overheating.

It is not very important, it just tells the ECU to idle the engine at 3000 rpm when started when the switch is open. It also controls when air is injected into the engine (ports/cat). I do not believe it has anything to do with your engine overheating.
