what does the air supply valve do?

The air supply valve on the back of the throttle body? If you have power steering its supposed to jack up the idle when the wheel is turned and during hot starting. I don't think you'll miss it if you don't have power steering. I have no pwr steering and I've had that dude disconnected in the past and you'd never know it was missed.
