Question what do you guys think?

i found a 1988 maza rx-7 se. milage around 180,000 it ahsnt ran for a while. the reason is unkown. the body is really strait. it only has minor paint wear on the roof. it is grey outside with red interior. it is a 5 speed. interior looks really nice. he wants $850.00. do you think it is a good deal. thanks Rob

Depends, are you expecting that you can buy this and drive it home? If it's been sitting for awhile (like a long time) without being turned over, I bet that a engine rebuild is in it's near future. I bet you can find a better FC than a SE anyways.

Too much, that is a $2-500 car max. Depends on condition. unless you are totally in love with it, let it go.

Plan to put a motor in, regardless of whether or not it runs, or what anyone may say.

well the only thing is that i have a 82 1st gen right now with the stock 12a. the car has 170000 miles and the motor has 42000. but i want more power. i like the 2nd gen body more i have a 1987 13b sitting in my shop, complete form airbox to tranny. i was just looking for a newer rx that has more avalability for aftermarket parts. the motor in the 88 looked really clean besides the dust, no oil leaks, and the oil was full and looked pretty clean.i was also thinking of a possible trade to this person for my 1st gen, what do you think?

you would have to ask the guy selling the car. Anything is possible.

Never trade a known good anything for an unknown anything else in search of something better. The other car could be a total POS regardless of looks.

It's hard to say. I would get the 2gen for cheap, keep yrou 1gen and drive it while you fix up the 2gen...
