What do you guys spend on spark plugs?

I have an 88 TII and I only use NGK spark plugs. It seems harder and harder to find NGK's at a reasonable price. I've checked around at a lot of stores and the best price I've found by far is from Advanced Auto parts (can I mention names here moderator?) at $5.78 a peice (even though that price has gone up about 80 cents since last year). Even better yet is that Advanced Auto always has them in stock, which is amazing for NGK's. Beleive it or not, the worst price I've been quoted was $34.80 a peice from Autozone!!!!!. Unreal, I hope none of you have ever spent that much. That price is even worse than the dealer! Anyway, do any of you spend less than $5.78 a peice?

It's like any other price for anything necessary, like fuel. We pay what they charge.
And there's not much we can do about that. . . . otherwise we'd still be paying atleast buck/fifty/gallon for fuel...

We need to get paid more. . .

$1,000,000 per plug. $5.50 seems about like the going rate for good NGK

Yeah, I asked the guy at autozone if he was sure that price wasn't for all four plugs or for the plug wires and he assured that it was the price for one plug. I think there was an error in the computer listings cause that is ridiculous.

That is a good price on Icemark's page. I wonder if they are still less expensive once you add in shipping.

Yeah, there was definately a ****-up at autozone, because I just price checked them last month and it was about 6 or a bit less. All of the major stores (Advance, autozone, and o'reilly's) here charge about the same. I just get them at advance cause its the closest one to me. I havent checked at NAPA but I assume they are the same. Plats generally run abouta buck more.

I think I payed about $32.00 for four NGK's and I got them from a local race shop that specializes in RX-7's. Sneed's Speed Shop, Winston-Salem, NC.

Hey Classicauto...Is that for NGK? If so, where do you get them? Lordco quoted me $12 each! Also tried to tell me that I need 4 leading and 4 trailing. I might as well get them from Mazda!

Is there anyone in Canada who can give me the name of a Canadian retailer where they buy their NGK plugs for a *decent* price?

Yes, I suppose I could. I did look and they are only $4 each there, but I'm in Canada and I have to consider exchange, shipping & handling, duty, and taxes. It will be cheaper for me to go and get them in the states myself, but not today. I'll grab some next time I'm down there ($4.99 each at Schuck's).

For today, I'm looking to find some in Canada for a reasonable price. $12 each is NOT reasonable. There has to be someone in Canada (preferably the Vancouver area) who changes their own plugs who pays a decent price for them!

BTW, its not that I can't spend $48 on spark plugs. I just HATE paying unreasonable, inflated prices for anything. I'm just looking for the best deal I can get.

Cheers,
Lainy

Carquest

edit: and yes they were NGK's - the platinums can be around $10, so what they quoted you may have been platinums

Unfortunately there aren't any Carquests in western Canada. I called Lordco back to see if I was quoted incorrectly and no, they are $11.70 each. The platinums are closer to $15 each.

Thanks anyway!
