Yeah, I knew it wasn't part of the emissions, but alot of people remove it during emission removal. So pretty much the ONLY reason behind removing the thermowax would be.. because you just don't really need it in the end?

Lots of people remove it to simplify their engine.. It has coolant hoses and what not flowing through it.... as long as you keep your foot on the pedal for the first few seconds of startup, you don't need it. And if your thermowax has failed... removing it is a cheap solution.

You gain nothing by removing emissions other then the appearance of simplicity. Some people will tear everything off their engine to try and make the engine bay look tidy, but in doing so will thoroughly mess up the vacuum and electrical systems and thus the car actually runs far worse then before. This seems to be the case the majority of the time when I have to work on an emissionless FC.
Removing the thermowax gains you the annoyance of having to manually warm up the car in cold weather, trading off the insanely remote possibility of failure of the coolant hose (I've never seen nor heard of one failing).
