What do these do?

So about a week ago I parked my car and whent to start it up like 5 min later and it would start, rev to 2,000 rpm then just sputer and drop to 0 rpm then die. Managed to get it home by just manually keeping the revs up but as soon as I would stop at a light it would die, when i got home I was messin around with the throttle area tryin to bump up the idle a lil and found that if I gave a screw a lil 1/4 turn it fixed the whole problem, but the funny thing is is that i have no idea what I adjusted , so here I am

the screw/nut i adjusted is circled in green

also what does this do cudnt find a clear description in the FSM

and this lil guy no idea what he does ether

Pic 3 is the actual idle set screw. Pic 1 is the throttle stop. It has the same effect (sort of) as pic 3. If you turn the idle set screw out a little, then return the first screw to where it was, you should be ok.

Pic 2 with the plastic cone-looking cap is the TPS adjuster. Don't fool with it unless your idle is surging.

Tps that controls the amount of oil injected into the engine or sumthin right? If I did mess with that how wud I set it back , do I need a digital multi meter?

I also noticed there was a tad more blue smoke on startup thats prob from messin with the TPS eh?

picture 1 is your secondary throttle butterfly stop, which you shouldn't have messed with at all. adjusting it will raise the idle but it will also make it lumpy too and increase emissions.

picture 2 is your secondary butterfly lag spring, it puts pressure on the secondary butterfly control rod to force their actuation against the dashpot. the lower screw is the TPS adjustment screw with anti-tamper cap.

3rd picture is of the idle adjustment screw which you should be using to set the idle. screw it counterclockwise to raise the idle and clockwise to lower it.

you probably have a vacuum leak in the system somewhere that developed which is causing the whole issue, look for broken or popped off vacuum lines on the engine and fix them then readjust everything back to where it was.
