What to do!?!?!?!?!

Ok guys here is my prodicament, this guy is trying to sell me this 88 t2 but it is a huge **** storm he says it fire up with starting fluid but won't stay running he seems like a complete idiot! But the car has everything I need for my na to t2 swap I do not want the motor I can almost bet a thousand bucks it's all sorts of screwed. But he will not go any lower than $1100 bucks and on top of that no title omg!!!!! What should I do?

$1100 isn't expensive for a complete turbo 2nd gen in decent condition.

Even if the engine blown/low compression , I don't see what the problem is if you're only using it as a parts car and swapping everything.

Get the engine compression tested and rebuild it if the compression is low.

Offer him $1,000 or walk. Take what you want and part everything including the engine.
Sounds worth it to me for the turbo drivetrain and complete engine (even if the engine is bad).

Fuel pump, Filter or ECU. If you want it for parts check the shaft play in the turbocharger. Note the mileage. If (which it probably is) over 90k. Just save yourself the time and pass unless you want to rebuild the turbo which isn't a hard thing to do.

You can part out a turbo II and make about 2-3 grand for a whole car's worth of parts. Or you can take the drivetrain and part out the rest of the car and come close to getting the parts you kept for free.
