What could I do to improve performance on my 91 na

I have a 91 automatic n/a. I was wondering what could I do to add some hp that wouldnt cost a load of money. Maybe an exhuast or intake? Pls let me know what could help me out.

Exhaust is a quick and easy thing to do, but beware if you go too extreem rexy's can get really loud. Getting a full intake doesn't exist but K&N does make a cone with an adapter kit. One way to make her go a little quicker is to remove some weight (spare tire and jack, AC, PS, and the air pump, but if I remember correctly the 6 ports on the S5 cars are run off the air pump so don't remove that until you get those electronically controlled). But if ya really want to go crazy you can go to a wrecker and pick up a ford supercharger for fairly cheap and make a custom intake to bolt it onto. scathcart can tell you more about making that work.

Too bad its an auto, I don't know how much power they can take as opposed to the 5spd or how much slower they are either.

Don't know what your budget is or what is considered 'cheap'. Intake shouldn't be too pricey. Custom exaust will run you around 400, racing beat is 550. Make sure your ports open and close as von showed me.

Here is my plan, I have the same year as you but Im stick:
Intake
Exaust
MD racing chip
Bonez high flow cat system
Pulleys
RPS clutch

Minus the clutch I would say go with that. Also make sure all your fluids are fresh.

91REX you might want to consider switching one or a coupple of things around like your intake and exhaust. If you do the exhaust first you might notice a little more in the period in between. Think about it, if you do the exhaust first then then you will be pulling more air through your intake because now you can get it out the tailpipe a little quicker. If you do the intake then you will be restricted to how quickly you can get it out. Another thing you might want to think of is doing the High flow cat at the same time you do the rest of the exhaust, for the same reason stated above.

What about mounting an electric fan? that's a relatively cheap mod.

91rex...Dood I took ben for a ride in my car and even he said something was up. Power would drop off around 6k and felt like something was in the tail pipe when trying to rev to 7 in fourth... I droped ben off and tinkered with it. Finally I found out that the VDI was closed the whole time...So retuned the NOS timer by taking my rubber band mod off ( dont know what I was thinking) and opened my VDI...This means that I must race the stealth TT again. My power isnt droping off anymore...Tell stealth that to be ready tomorow in the same spot. I need to do this to see where I really stand.

red, my list was in no particular order although I have already done my intake. I took the cone off my GST. I plan to do the exaust next (Apex N1 dual already ordered) but Im not putting it on until I get the bonez cat replacement. Then I am going with the clutch because the stock one already slips as is and I need one to hold the additional power. Next I will pick up the pulleys and racing sleeves because they are relatively cheap. Last but not least is the MD racing chip which I have heard nothing but good things about. I am getting the race version. Check it out at www.mdrace.com

When I am done, which will be by mid June then I should be good for mid/high 14s.

Von, you will still lose buddy. He completely smoked the clutch and missed the launch. If your VDI is open now and he gets a good launch then you will probably end up in the same place. Maybe you will hang until 3rd gear again. Good luck to you. Need to work on the car at some point this week. Wire the VDI, change pads, change plugs and change fluid but I need your help. What do you think?

Damn you Khliffy I am not putting you down bro I am the only one in your corner. I am just saying don't have your heart set on the VDI being your savior because he got a shitty launch too. I think that from 5-80mph you can hang with him evenly.

**** bench racing because on paper you are low 15s and he is high 13s but you ran DEAD EVEN with him until 70 and to me thats a victory for the REX.

Anyways, What day can I bring my car to your chowse to work on it?

Actually at 70 is when he was 1.5 cars infront of me. And I will not hang with him till 80. BUT it WILL be a little closer....Anyways drop it. I can bring the right spark plug socket and THATS IT. Thats all I need to do an overhaul on my car. I took off the entire intake manifold mille upper lower fuel lines rails and all with a 10 and 12 mm socket and extension. So all we need is that stupid ****** spark plug socket.

Search for a post called how to make a beefy n/a. I think audiofight started it. There are like 7 pages of replies. I used to have an automatic but when it started slipping I had it replaced with a 5 speed tranny and the difference in acceleration is night and day. You might want to do a search on the automatic to manual conversion too.
