black will hide break dust sooo much better, while yellow and red , will just accentuate it. I wouldn't paint the subframe, any crazy color, stick with a traditional black.

Terrh 03-06-04 07:32 PM

Silver subframe might look nice...

as far as brake color goes.. it depends on the color of the car..

the brakes on my 10AE are getting painted black with the mazda part getting painted gold or red...

but maybe I'll do the opposite of that, red calipers with black lettering... I think that would look really nice...

soyo 03-07-04 08:56 PM

why use 2 different colors? that would just be too much if you ask me

totallimmortal 03-07-04 09:05 PM

I like the calipers red and the mazda in black but keep em cleen and i don't think painted calipers are rice in any for besides those four pistons are good calipers and should be shown off

snub disphenoid 03-07-04 09:20 PM

Even though it doesn't look as good as it would with something like a Black or even a white car, I still painted my calipers red. I think they look decent.

FC3S driver 03-07-04 11:46 PM

too bad i don't have any pics of my brakes, maybe somthing to do tommorow, any way, my car is black and I painted my brakes red, and hand painted the mazda part white, looks really nice. but my buddy has a white 3rd gen and I painted his calipers white with the mazda part red, it looks really fancy, people always give him compliments on them

Well, I gotta admit this thread Inspired me to get a move on my current Yellow Calipers I still have on. I've taken them off and I'll be glassbeading them tomorrow, If not Tuesday. The Yellow Is outta there!

just clean then very well with one of those wire brush attachments for a drill or dremel, then add a clear coat... they will look better than new, and not rust.

DON'T PAINT. POWDERCOAT. SATIN BLACK. NOT FLAT BLACK AND NOT GLOSS BLACK.

ALSO SPRAY WHEEL WHEEL AREA BLACK.

LET YOUR WHEELS AND TIRES DO THE TALKING.

COLORS ON CALIPERS IS :gay:

jdmsuper7 03-08-04 11:32 AM

I painted mine red, but I still need to hand paint the Mazda part. I guess it could b argued that it looks ricey, but I thought that it was a great way to accentuate the stock brakes, which are nothing to be ashamed of.

black or silver...actual colors are a little cheesy. red calipers are only cool on cars that came with them :) black with silver mazda lettering looks nice.

domesttuner 03-08-04 03:18 PM

red calipers look badass, even if they are just painted. i did my old buick like that.

rx-7s rock 03-08-04 03:42 PM

red or black. Probably red if your car is black.
Yellow=teh ghey.

Digi7ech 03-08-04 04:04 PM

Red. I have a Black 88 GTU and it looks hella sexy against my very open silver spoke rims.

Yellow seems too ricey since all the Honduz use it.Although yellow = more HP!.

jon88se 03-08-04 04:12 PM

a buick with red calipers...flame on :)

domesttuner 03-08-04 11:06 PM

just wait until you see the rest of it

neevosh 03-09-04 01:21 AM

I just painted mine gloss black today. I'm gonna sand down the Mazda lettering tomorrow before I reinstall them.

soyo 03-09-04 11:05 PM

if I had money I'd powder coat them black, looks so pretty, I saw them powder coat a bike on american choppers for jay leno. it got me off right there in like 2 seconds... well not quite like that but it is soooo nice and smooth

BDoty311 03-10-04 06:02 PM

I cleaned mine yesterday really good. Made them shine. Then I just clearcoated them. Looks good, and not like I have aftermarket calipers.

domesttuner 03-10-04 06:44 PM

what, no one likes my red calipers on my old buick?
