What color is the o2 wire on an 86 NA?

It is on the harness that comes through the right side of the firewall I am assuming.

Thanks!!

the plug is under the intake manifold, closer to the firewall. It has a green connector.

The green connector is dangling from my sensor.. and I am having trouble finding the wire.

There's a male and a female half of the plug. You have both???? Or just one half of that plug?

Both are connected and dangling from the sensor. The wire is cut as it exits the plug so I can't even tell the color for sure.

I looked for the bare wire for 30 minutes yesterday.

You seem to be a good sourse of emissions info. What does the ECU do when the o2 is disconnected?

The car seems a bit rich under closed loop conditions, and has a flat spot in the powerband around 3600 RPM. I thought this was the infamous grounding problem, but this flat spot is worse the slower I go. Might it be the closed loop/open loop transition causing that problem?

Can't go into closed loop with no 02 sensor. Cannot happen in this world.

The 02 sensor wire is a shielded cable. A shielded cable has a center conductor surrounded by a wire mesh and the wire mesh is in turn covered by a normal looking wire insulation, which is GREY in color but after several yrs it's probably burnt brown in color.

I figure it defaulted to some value, because the car nearly passed smog without the sensor. HCs were a bit high at 15 MPH, but fine at 25 MPH.

If I cant find the wire, I should be able to find it in the harness and just spice in the sensor further upstream correct?

If you go to the pin 2D, you will find the black center conductor of the grey cable. Unwrap the harness about six to ten inches up the harness, and you find the grey cable with it's shield grounded with other gnds.

You probably could take the dynamic chamber off and find the remmants of the wire under there somewhere.
