What can go (vaccuum system)

Ok, if you've looked at my other threads, i have my upper and lower intake manifolds off at the moment, and i would like to get rid of as many vaccuum lines as possible (the car is still somewhat of a daily driver). I hate the look of it, and it just makes it so confusing. I already have some of the vac lines blocked off from previous owner, but what can i safely get rid of and still allow the car to start and run correctly???? As always, pictures are worth 1000 words (possibly a vac. diagram w/ what can be removed). Also, what is involved with removing each component...anything special??? Thanks again guys!!!

Also, i am debating removing the omp... what is entailed w/ removal (besides premixing).

Dude, that the dumbest reason ever to remove something. Seriously. It only looks confusing because you don't understand it. With a little research, you'll see there's nothing confusing about it.

As for looks, I don't know if you paid much attention before you ripped the UIM off, but with everything in place, including the TMIC, you can't actually see any of the stuff you want to remove without looking real hard. Its all completely hidden under the intercooler. There are also no performance advantages to doing this, but it has the potential to cause problems if you do it wrong.

Having said that, there is a wealth of info available here regarding removing the vac rack, much of it posted by me. If you search you'll find tons of info including pics and diagrams. Search for the words "vac rack" under my name for example and you'll get about 20 hits.

what i mean by confusing is that when you need to remove something (like i had to remove the UIM/LIM), you have to spend half your time seeing exactly where each vac. line goes and making a note of it. And if i am going to go FMIC, then a good amount of hte vac lines will be seen. However, if there really isnt anything positive to gain out of it, then why do other people do it? Thanks

People don't like seeing things they don't understand, so they pull it off. I used to think the same way, but in my extensive research on figuring out how to do it right, I realised it was a helluva lot of work for little gain. If you convert to a FMIC it's probably worth it.

If you want to do it, go ahead. Follow all the info I've posted previously (from all that research I did), and you'll be fine. Just don't expect any visual improvements while you still have the TMIC, and definitely don't expect any performance improvements.

oh no, i didnt expect any of that. I just wanted to improve the look of it bc if you look at my other threads, im currently getting the car ready for the front mount, so i'd like to clean it up a little bit. Plus the whole confusion factor with trying to work on things
thanks for the info.... i usually search, but i was in a hurry this time...figures..lol

Well, I can see the boat he's in.

2 weeks ago I didn't know **** about the vac hoses and such.

I pulled out one of the diagrams in the FSM, and re-drew it with just the vac hoses layed out. Took me 3 minutes to understand what's going on... with the help of HAILERS (thanks VERY much btw hailers).

I don't really see a need in removing the emissions equipment, except for the reason stated about having to re-connect them and such if you take your intake manifolds off often. Also.. if you just don't want a cluttered engine bay. If I didn't have to pass exaust inspection... mine would be off in a heart beat. However it doesn't exactly bother me sitting there, as long as its not hindering my performance.
